Exploring the idyllic coastal village of Coverack on the Lizard Peninsula

Coverack is situated on the Lizard Peninsula and is described as an idyllic coastal village and fishing port. It’s definitely idyllic, in fact it’s the kind of place you’d consider packing up and moving to, and I often do.

As far as Cornish villages go Coverack has everything you could wish for: a sandy beach, small harbour and plenty of quaint cottages. There’s even a pink one with a thatched roof. But the thing that makes Coverack so special is its tranquillity and space, it has a gentle slowness that I find extremely calming.

Visits to Coverack usually include packing up a picnic or enjoying lunch at Harbour Lights; an adorable little restaurant overlooking the sea. I can thoroughly recommend Archies Loft for Roskilly’s Cornish ice cream, and if you take a seat outside you may even spot a seal. As I did on my last visit.

The beach is made up of a large arc shape of golden sand, it’s a little rocky in places but great for rock pool enthusiasts! It’s fairly sheltered which means the water is calm, clear and very inviting. The perfect place to while away a few hours with a good book.

If I had to sum Coverack up in one word it would be peaceful. It’s a very special place and if you spend a little time there you’ll see why.
